Police in Kapiri Mposhi have arrested a 22-year-old woman for allegedly aborting her six months’ pregnancy.

The woman identified as Blessings Chansa of riverside compound allegedly aborted her pregnancy in the room at a named lodge in Kawama compound where she was a tenant.

A general worker at the Lodge, who discovered the dead foetus in the toilet of the room where the suspect had lodged, alerted the police yesterday around 06:00 hours.

The suspect has been charged with infanticide and will appear in court soon.

The woman has since been admitted to Kapiri Urban clinic for treatment after complaining of stomach pains.
