Government has stressed the need to increase sensitization on the dangers of tobacco smoking.

Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary for technical services Kennedy Malama says government has noted with concern the increased abuse of tobacco smoking in the country, a situation he said is detrimental to people’s Health.

Speaking when he officiated at the Virtual Commemoration of the World No Tobacco Day in Lusaka today, Dr. Malama disclosed that there are over 7,000 chemicals in tobacco, of which 250 are known to be harmful while 69 chemicals lead to cancer.

Dr. Malama has therefore urged smokers to protect their health by quitting tobacco smoking.

You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
