Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary in charge of Technical Services Kennedy Malama has expressed concern that over 7,000 people in Zambia die every year due to tobacco related diseases.
Dr. Malama says that government is working on modalities to ensure that citizens especially the young people are well educated on the dangers of tobacco to further reduce current deaths related to tobacco use.
Speaking during World No Tobacco Day commemoration in Lusaka today, Dr. Malama added that statistics have shown that the number of young people that are using tobacco is increasing adding that this needs to be addressed to save future generations.
