ACC Pursues Irregularities Highlighted In AG’s Reports

The Anti Corruption Commission ACC has instituted investigations on cases highlighted in the past three Auditor General’s reports. ACC public relations office Timothy Moono says  the commission received 197 reports with elements of corruption in the last quarter of 2012 out of which 22 are from the 2012 auditors general ‘s report. Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka Tuesday , Mr. Moono urged public officers to ensure they adhere to laid down plans and budgets to avoid unplanned expenditures. He also said the ACC in collaboration with the office of the auditor general have developed a Gift Policy to prevent corruption by regulating gifts received by members of staff in all ministries.
Mr. Moono further said that the commission has engaged civil society organizations to educate members of the public about corruption and the ills that come as a result of the vice.
Meanwhile Mr. Moono has confirmed that the commission is investigating Youth and sport Minister Chishimba Kambwili in connection with media adverts about his degree from Copperstone University.
