The 2020 Ensuring Civic Space in Zambia report has revealed that citizens and civil society organizations are not given adequate civic space to air out their interests and views on national issues.

Civil Society for Poverty Reduction CSPR Programs Coordinator Eddie Musosa says according to the report, the civic space in Zambia that offers a chance for citizens to freely express themselves has shrank, a situation he described as detrimental to democracy.

Speaking during the launch of the report in Lusaka yesterday, Mr. Musosa has cited intimidation by people in power, harassment, and attacks on journalists among other issues that have led to fear of expression by the citizenry.
