Minister of Agriculture Michael Katambo has attributed the low performance of the Agriculture sector in the 2018/2019 farming season to climate change and low investments in the sector.
Mr Katambo said that low investment by the private sector made the agriculture sector vulnerable adding that climate change has had a negative impact on the food and nutrition of the country.
He however said that government is resolute to addressing these challenges by formulating programs aimed at accelerating growth and eliminating poverty such as the second National Agriculture Investment Plan, NAIP which will run from 2020 to 2026.
Mr. Katambo was speaking during NAIP 2014-2018 review formulation of the second NAIP and the Biannual review process for Zambia in Lusaka today.
