Anti-Voter Apathy Project AVAP has urged the Electoral Commission of Zambia ECZ to enhance sensitization ahead of the Voter Registration exercise which will commence in May 2020.
AVAP Executive Director, Richwell Mulwani, says sensitization will make it possible for more people to register and avoid voter apathy in the 2021 general elections.
Speaking in an interview with Christian Voice News in Lusaka today, Mr. Mulwani commended the move to start a new voter register, saying the old one had been updated since 2006.
He noted that the country does not have a proper mechanism of ejecting the deceased people from the Voter register.
ECZ Chief Electoral Officer Patrick Nshindano said the commission will spend over K880 million in the voter registration exercise that begins this May.
