The Electoral Commission of Zambia ECZ has with immediate effect suspended campaign rallies in view of the increasing covid19 cases in the country.

ECZ Chief Electoral officer Patrick Nshindano says political parties will however continue with their campaigns using other means such as digital platforms.

Speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. Nshindano said that the decision has been arrived at due to the escalating number of covd19 cases in the country.

Mr. Nshindano has also Urged citizens to stay away from political rallies.

He has therefore urged all political parties to respect the decision and protect the people.

And Mr. Nshindano has dispelled allegations that the commission will postpone the general elections adding that the elections will go on as planned.



“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
