A leading global mining group, Rio Tinto has commenced its mining explorations in two provinces of Zambia.
Rio Tinto Exploration manager Nevan Pillay discloses that his company plans to invest massively in the mining sector once the exploration exercise becomes successful.
The team is targeting the Copperbelt and North Western provinces where Ndola and Mufulira districts on the Copperbelt and Solwezi and Mwinilunga in North Western will witness extensive copper and cobalt explorations.
Mr. Pillay said this when his team paid a courtesy call on Copperbelt Province Minister Japhen Mwakalombe in Ndola, today.
He told the minister that Rio Tinto’s eye is placed on areas rich in copper and cobalt adding that its the company’s desire that the explorations will be fruitful and necessitate mine development.
