The Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection JCTR has noted with concern the increased cases of suspected gassing of innocent citizens by some unscrupulous people in the society.
JCTR Media and Information Officer Enock Ngoma notes that this issue bares a high risk of more losses and damage of property for the innocent as well as the escalated loss of life for those being accused, if not properly handled.
In a statement to Christian Voice News in Lusaka today, Mr. Ngoma urged the Zambia Police to engage relevant partners to embark on sensitization of members of the public against taking the law into their own hands.
He said Public and private property have been destroyed thereby taking the nation backwards in terms of development.
Mr. Ngoma expressed concern that the situation has degenerated into total collapse of law and order and the citizenry are living in constant fear, hence the need for an urgent solution from authorities.
He said production and other economic activities are not operating at full capacity because people are living in fear.
Mr. Ngoma further asked ZICTA to be proactive by checking sources of alarming statements which even go with pictures being generated on social media.
He also advised citizens against reinforcing the belief in Satanism or ritual killings but instead allow the police to thoroughly investigate the matter.
