Mines Minister Richard Musukwa has assured miners on the Copperbelt province that government has their interest at heart as the ownership of both Mopani and KCM mines change.

Mr. Musukwa says the KCM court process is nearing conclusion and that government is on course to ensure a credible investor moves in to inject fresh capital and projects become a reality to guarantee the future of the mine.

Speaking when he met Mines Union leaders in Lusaka today, Mr. Musukwa also assured that the ZCCM-IH which took over the running of Mopani mines will run the mines as a business and will hire experts to guide the operations in the interest of Zambians.

Mr. Musukwa indicated that there is an opportunity for indigenous Zambians to be part of the Mopani mines following take over by the ZCCM-IH, further saying that the technical team has made progress on the negotiation process.

I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.
