Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya has revealed that the country has made significant progress in the reduction of maternal mortality rate from 398 by every 100,000 live births to 278 per 100,000 births respectively.
Dr Chilufya has observed that under-five mortality has equally reduced from 75 to 61 per thousand further adding that Overall child mortality reduced from 31 to 19 per thousand stunting from 40 to 35% and underweight from 15 to 12 %.
Speaking during the launch of the demographic and health survey key indicators report for 2017/2018 in Lusaka today, Dr Chilufya noted that government has since identified strengthening health systems with the use of the primary health care approach towards the attainment of universal health coverage.
