A first year Zambia Catholic university student has been gang raped by three unknown men in Kalulushi district.

Police in the district have since launched a manhunt for the three suspects.

Copperbelt Police Chief Charity Katanga who confirmed the development today said the incident happened yesterday around 23:00hours along JVC road in North Kalengwa area.

Ms Katanga said the incident happened after the victim whose name has been withheld was coming from a drinking spree with her boyfriend and heading to their boarding house.

She stated that the duo were offered a lift by unknown people who were driving a unregistered silver Toyota corolla who later forced her boyfriend out of the car and drove off to JVC road where they packed and forcefully took turns in raping her.

Ms Katanga further said the victim was later dropped near the Catholic university premises and was only picked and taken to hospital by well-wishers after they found her lying while crying for help alongside the road.
