The Civil Servants and Allied Workers Union of Zambia has appealed to government to allow civil servants to start working from home in view of the escalating cases of COVID-19 in the country.

Union president Davy Chiyobe said allowing civil servants to operate from their homes will help to decongest public offices and in turn reduce the spread of Coronavirus due to human interaction.

Mr. Chiyobe said the sharp increase in the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths is a huge source of worry for the union stating that the measures to protect the country’s work force should be scaled up.

He also implored public service workers to take personal responsibility in protecting themselves from contracting the virus.
