Lusaka City Council Public Relations Manager George Sichimba has disclosed that the Lusaka City Council police and state police have been deployed in the Central Business District CBD to repel the influx of vendors.
Mr. Sichimba says the Council has in the last few days observed an influx of vendors in the CBD and also some unscrupulous people demarcating trading spaces along CBD roads.
He has told christian voice news that Some people have been spreading false information that vending has been legalized and cashing on some unsuspecting vendors by allegedly charging them as much as K1,500 each for a single trading spaces.
Mr. sichimba has further said that the assertions are not correct because vending is still illegal and Council will not allow vendors to come back into the CBD.
