Zambia Police service has disclosed that a suspected United Party for National Development UPND cadre only identified as Gadaffi has been shot and died while being evacuated to the University Teaching Hospital.
Police Spokesperson Esther Mwata Katongo has told Christian Voice news that reports on the ground reveal that Gadaffai was shot from a vehicle being driven by suspected Patriotic Front cadres.
Mrs. Katongo explains that the incident happened yesterday in Kaoma’s Site and Service.
It is alleged that the groups clashed while police Officers were attending a briefing at Kaoma Trades School organized by the Electoral Commission of Zambia.
She said when officers rushed to the scene, they found a man in his 40s laying on the ground in a pool of blood.
Mrs. Katongo adds that officers picked up the wounded man and rushed him to Kaoma District Hospital for medical attention but later died in the process of evacuation to UTH in Lusaka.
Recently, the Inspector General of Police called on all leaders of campaign teams for all Political Parties taking part in the Kaoma by – election to take up responsibility of ensuring that their cadres avoid any form of violence.
