The Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA) says a total of Thirty (30) Environmental Impact Assessment reports worth USD 66,052,786 were considered for approval.

ZEMA Acting Manager- Corporate Affairs Mercy Zulu has told Radio Christian Voice that the projects were considered from various developers and sectors across the country at the second extraordinary meeting of the Board, held on 15th September, 2022.

Ms. Zulu said the consideration of the projects was done in accordance with the Environmental Management Act No. 12 of 2011 (“the EMA”) and the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, Statutory Instrument No. 28 of 1997.

She said out of the 30 projects considered, 25 projects were approved and 5 were deferred.

Ms. Zulu said the deferred projects are pending additional information from the Developers and stakeholder consultation.
