University of Zambia sets aside k7 million to settle retirees

The University of Zambia UNZA says it has set aside seven million kwacha to pay off some retirees in an effort to reduce the 2.5 million Kwacha debt.

UNZA Vice Chancellor Luke Mumba says the level of debt is out of grants from government which he said ranges below the wage bill.

Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka today, professor Mumba said over 50 percent of the 2.5-million-kwacha debt is owed to retirees.
