Zambia Association of Manufacturers Expresses Uncertainty over Implications of New Tax Regime

The Zambia Association of Manufacturers ZAM has expressed uncertainty over the implications of the newly introduced non-refundable General Service Tax from the Value Added Tax VAT on the manufacturing industry.

Speaking during a dialogue meeting of industries in Lusaka today, MAZ President Rozetta Chabala said the uncertainty is a hindrance to the growth of the industry adding that the sector only thrives on clear policies.

Ms. Chabala disclosed that the Zambian economy is still experiencing slow economic growth of less than 4% which happened in 2018 which she attributed to increased taxation, and policy inconsistency among others isues.
