Minister of Finance Bwalya Ngandu says the country’s external Debt as at the end of June 2019 stood at $10.23 billion compared to $10.18 billion in March 2019.
Dr. Ngandu says that debt in terms of securities and bonds as at the end of June 2019 stood at k60.3 billion.
Speaking during the update on the Economic developments of the second Quarter of 2019, Dr. Ngandu also said that governments arrears stood at k16.7billion in the second quarter of the year.
Dr. Ngandu however said that government wants to achieve fiscal consolidation by reducing deficit over the medium term to sustainable levels of 3 to 4% of GDP, among many other measures put in place to enable steady economic growth.
