Zesco has appealed to the public to stop dumping garbage, farming and conducting businesses under the Zesco Pylons, saying the act is dangerous.
Zesco Director Distribution and Customer Service Peter Chanfya says those found wanting may face imprisonment of not less than 3 months, saying encroaching under the Zesco Pylons is a crime.
Mr. Chanfya encouraged alert members of the public to report all those that are conducting tombstone and mobile money businesses as well as farming and those involved in dumping garbage.
He was speaking in Lusaka today, when Zesco launched a partnership with Lusaka City Council to start clearing up of garbage disposed under the Zesco Pylons Along the Ring Road.
Speaking during the same occasion, Libala ward councilor Chabo Kyalusanza called for sensitisation among the public on the dangers of operating under Zesco Pylons.
He said most people have mounted businesses under the pylons due to ignorance.
